WFL No. 405 Dixieland Swing Twin Strainer 7" x 14" Snare Drum
From the collection Snare Drums
WFL No. 405 Dixieland Swing Twin Strainer 7" x 14" Snare Drum
Made in 1937, this WFL No. 405 Dixieland Swing is the oldest snare in the collection. Its deep 7-by-14-inch shell, White Marine Pearl wrap, and unusual twin-strainer arrangement make it an especially compelling example of prewar drum design.
The wrap has developed the warm, uneven coloration expected of an instrument of this age, while the hardware carries its own record of use. Those changes are not distractions; they are what give the drum its remarkable period presence.
